Grilled Swordfish with Lemon and Caper Sauce
Step outside, feel the warm sun, and welcome the season with Grilled Swordfish with Lemon and Caper Sauce. Early spring calls for meals that feel clean, bright, and full of energy, and grilled fish delivers a refreshing shift on the menu. Swordfish holds up well over an open flame, developing a light char while staying tender inside. A simple sauce of lemon and capers brings a sharp, briny contrast that keeps each bite balanced without weighing it down. Fresh air, steady heat, and a straightforward approach come together to make outdoor cooking feel natural this time of year.
Cooking seafood on the grill creates a connection between the ingredients and the fire that’s hard to match indoors. A thick swordfish steak sears quickly, locking in moisture while picking up subtle smokiness from the grates. Meanwhile, the sauce cuts through the richness with citrus and salt, adding just enough brightness to keep the dish refreshing. Serve it straight off the grill with simple sides, and the table fills with flavor, conversation, and time well spent outdoors.
American Made Grills bring that experience into focus. Built with precision and durable materials, these grills deliver even heat and steady performance across the entire cooking surface. That consistency helps fish cook evenly without hot spots or flare-ups, so each steak comes off the grates just right. Proudly made in the USA, they reflect a commitment to quality that shows up in every meal.
Grilled Swordfish with Lemon and Caper Sauce offers a fresh way to enjoy the season outdoors, combining clean flavors with the simple pleasure of cooking over fire.

Grilled Swordfish with Lemon and Caper Sauce Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1large lemon, peeled, cut crosswise into 8 1/4" slices, seeded, with all the juice
- 2 tablespoons drained nonpareil capers
- Sea salt and freshly ground white pepper to taste
- 3swordfish steaks cut 1 1/4-inch thick (about 1 pound each)
- 3 tablespoons (very green) extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped parsley for garnish
Grilled Swordfish with Lemon and Caper Sauce Directions
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until the butter is light brown, about 3 minutes.
- Cut the lemon slices into quarters. Add them (with their juice) and the capers to the saucepan. Reduce the heat and cook, shaking the pan several times, until the lemon and capers are heated through, about 1 minute. Taste for and correct seasoning.
- Light a grill or preheat the broiler. Brush the swordfish with olive oil on both sides. Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground white pepper to taste.
- Grill or broil the swordfish about 4 inches from the heat, turning once, until charred outside and still slightly pink in the center (3 to 4 minutes per side).
- Transfer the swordfish to a large platter and cut into thick strips. Pour the lemon and caper sauce over the fish and serve immediately, garnished with the chopped parsley.
